ALHAJI Suleiman Kawu-Sumaila, Kano South Senatorial Candidate of the New Nigerian People’s Party (NNPP), has promised effective and quality representation of his district.

The former Senior Special Adviser to President Buhari on Assembly Matters made the disclosure at a Dialogue series organized by the Correspondents chapel of NUJ on Saturday in Kano.

The former lawmaker promised that he would represent the constituency effectively by sponsoring people-oriented bills that would have positive impact on his constituency and Nigeria in general.

Sumaila, who defected from APC to NNPP, said that incumbency factor was inconsequential in Kano politics.

He, however, said if elected as a Senator, his political philosophy would be pegged on the principles of social Justice.

“My take on legislative agenda is to have Social Justice. I will ensure Social Justice in three areas—-education, health and water resources.

“I will make sure there is social justice in the distribution of wealth. Here in Kano, I will make sure there is a powerful Consultative Forum headed by me that will project our interest.

“I will also ensure we get our fair share of democratic dividends from the federal level,” he explained.

He regretted that the mounting insecurity and agitation in the Southeast and some parts of the North were due to lack of Social Justice in the system.

Sumaila assured that his agenda as a Senator was to ensure social justice for the benefit of all, irrespective of tribe, ethnicity and religion.

He promised to defeat the incumbent, Sen. Kabiru Gaya of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in spite of the party’s power of incumbency in Kano, and at the federal level.

According to him, in Kano, the power of incumbency is inconsequential and that all candidates in NNPP will win their various elective positions in the 2023 general elections.(NAN)
