THE participants at the ongoing Nigeria Oil and Gas, NOG Conference in Abuja on Wednesday, July 6, 2022 observed a minute silence for late Muhammad Sanusi Barkindo, the OPEC Secretary General, who died yesterday in Abuja.

Barkindo, who was one of the foundation fathers of the NOG conference, presented his keynote address at the conference on Tuesday, July 5, 2022.

The sudden death of Barkindo was announced in a tweet by Mele Kyari, Group Managing Director of NNPC Ltd.

Commenting on the sudden demise of Barkindo, Gbenga Komolafe, Chief Executive, Nigerian Upstream Regulatory Commission, NURC, described his death as the most shocking and sad news that he has ever experienced.

He prayed for his eternal rest and wished the family the fortitude to bear the loss.

Similarly, Odiri Umusu, director DMG Nigeria Events, who was shaken by the sudden death of Barkindo, described him as a great leader whose contributions in the oil and gas industry would continue to have a lasting impact on the nation and the world for decades.
