REP. Abdullahi Aliyu-Ahmed has said that the establishment of the North-West Development Commission (NWDC), would create more opportunities and accelerate solutions to the challenges bedeviling the region.

Aliyu-Ahmed (APC – Musawa/Matazu) in Katsina State, also hailed President Bola Tinubu for signing the NWDC bill into law.

This is contained in a statement by his Special Assistant on Media, Mr Francis Sardauna, in Katsina on Monday.

Aliyu-Ahmed, who is also the Chairman, House Committee on Interior, described the gesture as a decisive step to pull the region back from the brink.

“The commission will facilitate the reconstruction of roads, houses and business premises destroyed by multidimensional crises, and mitigate poverty in the seven states of Katsina, Zamfara, Kano, Kaduna, Jigawa, Sokoto and Kebbi.

“The signing of the bill has demonstrated President Tinubu’s commitment in building the nation on the fulcrum of fairness, justice and equity.

“By assenting to the bill, President Tinubu has shown that he has foresight and the goodwill to develop Nigeria.

“This law will promote inclusive governance and bring development closer to our people.

“I, therefore, urged leaders and people of the North-West to see it as a call to action that will enable us to come up with stirring solutions to our challenges,” he said.

He therefore urged the governments to saddle the responsibility of running the commission to knowledgeable, creative and innovative people for sustainable development to thrive.(NAN)
