A NORTHERN youth group under the auspices of Northern Youth Right Protection is urging Professor Isaac Adewole, minister of health, to urgently reinstate the suspended Professor Usman Yusuf, executive secretary of National Health Insurance Scheme, NHIS, to his position.

Haruna Abdullahi Maikano, president of the youth group, on Monday, October 2,  in a statement made available to journalist alleged that the series of events that led to the suspension had indicated that there was a gang up by corrupt individuals to rubbish the reputation of the NHIS executive secretary because for their selfish interest.

Maintaining that Yusuf is innocent of the allegation levelled against him, the group, however, warned his suspension was gradually eliciting tribal and religious sentiments. It stressed such sentiments must be avoided for the unity of the country, observing that the hasty manner the NHIS executive secretary  was suspended suggested that the minister connived with top management staff and Health Maintenance Organisation to bring him down at all cost.

According to the group, Yusuf was a well-known corruption fighter who was at the forefront of the President Buhari’s administration promise to Nigerians.

The group also noted  a recent media report instigating the appointment of a new executive secretary of the agency without resolving the perceived injustice meted on Yusuf.
