NPC Congratulates New NGE President

THE Nigerian Press Council, NPC, has congratulated Garba Muhammad on his emergence as the new president of the Nigerian Guild of Editors, NGE. Nnamdi Njemanze, executive secretary, NPC, in a letter of congratulations to Muhammad, said his election into the exalted position of the NGE president was in recognition of his contributions to the journalism profession.

He said: “On behalf of management and staff of the Nigerian Press Council, I wish to heartily congratulate you on your election to the exalted position of the President of the Nigerian Guild of Editors. Your election on Friday, August 28, 2015, no doubt, is in recognition of your contributions to the journalism profession as a practicing journalist and manager of reporters.

“We are very confident that with your background, particularly as a respected journalist, you will continue to uphold the noble ideals of the Guild to preserve the best tradition and standards of journalism practice and defend the rights of the press in the country. We wish to assure you of Council’s support and partnership in working towards the wellbeing of Nigerian Journalists and upholding the ethics of our noble profession. Please have the assurances of council’s highest regards.”
