NPC to deploy 14, 461 personnel for trail census

THE National Population Commission yesterday said 14, 461 personnel would carry out the trial census to be conduct from June 27 to 30.

Chairman, NPC, Nasir Isa Kwarra, told reporters in Abuja that the personnel consists of 13,461 hired enumerators and 1,000 facilitators.

He said the exercise would be conducted in one local government areas from the six selected states, representing the six geopolitical zones, and one supervisory area in three LGAs in each of the three senatorial districts in the remaining 30 states and the FCT.

The local government areas are Toungo, Adamawa State (North East); Daura, Katsina, (North West), Karu, Nasarawa (North Central); Imeko-Afon, Ogun (South West), Idemili South, Anambra (South East) and Brass, Bayelsa (South South).

He Kwarra said the local governments were selected due to their peculiarities and to serve as a means to test the commission’s readiness for the 2023 population and housing census. He stated: “Most of the local governments have border towns, so they’ll help in giving knowledge on migratory pattern of some of the resident while one is a riverine area.”
