GROUP A leaders Bendel Insurance Football Club of Benin on Wednesday underlined their dominance with a 1-0 defeat of hosts El-Kanemi Warriors of Maiduguri.

In their 2022/2023 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) Match Day 5 fixture, Insurance FC scored in the 29th minute and held on to their lead to stay three points ahead.

They now have the maximum 15 points from five wins in five matches, three points ahead of closest rivals Remo Stars FC of Ikenne who secured four wins from five matches.

Remo Stars after a Samuel Anakwe opening minute goal emerged 1-0 winners over Enyimba International of Aba, who are still with seven points and are five adrift of the former.

Hosts Kwara United of Ilorin beat Akwa United of Uyo 2-1 in Ibadan to move up the standings, just as Gombe United beat visiting Shooting Stars of Ibadan 2-1 also.

Nasarawa United of Lafia, who some days ago moved away from their temporary Jos home venue, could not improve their situation.

They fell 2-1 to the visiting Plateau United of Jos at their new temporary home.
