GREG Ikhenoba, Coach of Bendel Insurance FC of Benin, has blamed his team`s 1-3 loss to Akwa United FC to lack of concentration on the part of the players.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Insurance succumbed to a 1-3 defeat away to Akwa United in the matchday 25 of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).

Ikhenoba told NAN that he expected his boys to have risen up to the occasion, but regretted that reverse was the case.

“In football, every coach and team approach games with their strategy.  But the result is determined in the field of play, and winning at that level depends on the mentality of the players.

“I won’t say that I am disappointed because that is football for you. I couldn’t believe conceding two goals within three minutes.

“We have a lot to learn from the game and prepare for our next game. I expected the host team to fight for their life and they did but unfortunately my boys didn’t do enough,” he said.

NAN reports that the victory took former NPFL champions out of the relegation zone.

Insurance has 34 points from  25 matches and will host Doma United FC on Sunday in Benin. (NAN)
