NPFL: Sunshine Stars FC unveil Boboye as new coach

SUNSHINE Stars Football Club of Akure on Thursday,  unveiled former Plateau United Coach, Kennedy Boboye as the team’s new coach.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Boboye, the former Abia Warriors and Heartland coach, agreed to  join Sunshine Stars FC after  the sack of Edith Agoye, for poor perfirmance in the league.

NAN  reports that other technical crew members unveiled alongside Boboye included, Kayode Julius, Chief Coach,   Nwachukwu Ifeanyi, Assistant Coach and John Gaadi, Goalkeeper Trainer.

Also unveiled was the 2013 AFCON winner, Godfrey Oboabona, who made a return to the team after a successful spells with clubs in Europe and Saudi Arabia.

Mrs Foluke Tunde-Daramola, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, while  unveiling  the officials  in Akure, said it was a homecoming for the coaches.

Tunde-Daramola said Gov. Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State was a sports lover and the ministry would take advantage to develop sports in the state.

“I bring you warm greetings from our dear governor, Ayedatiwa. What we are doing here today is a big business.

“We’ve heard what everybody has been saying and the representatives of the coaches literally informed us that they are pledging their supports.

“Just as the management has been doing ever since the beginning, and we keep trying to give our utmost support to ensure that our heart desires concerning this season is met and beyond too by the special grace of God.

“I want to say one thing and I’m sure it is applicable in the football space, state government can not do these things all alone.

“We need to go out and scout for sponsors, that is why most of these states have an edge  over,” he said.

Responding, the new Sunshine Stars FC Coach, Kennedy Boboye, thanked the management of the team for giving him the opportunity to serve and lead the team again.

He sought the corporation of everyone and promised to give his best with the support of everyone.

“I’m glad to be back home, Sunshine Stars remain in my heart, with God and the collective support of everyone, we shall succeed and achieve the desired results,” he said.

Present at the event are the  Administrative Secretary, Ondo state Football Agency, Mr Bekewei Ijeh and the Coordinator, Sunshine Stars FC, Mr Tokunbo Akinyelure,

Others are Seun Betiku, Team manager, Sunshine stars FC; and  Segun Giwa, Chairman, Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Ondo State Chapter. (NAN)
