NSCDC partners UN Women to promote peaceful coexistence in Katsina

THE Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has expressed readiness to collaborate with the UN Women to promote peaceful coexistence in Katsina State.

The Commandant of the Corps in the state, Mr Jamilu Indabawa stated this during a courtesy visit by Mr Lansana Wonneh, the UN Women Deputy Country Representative, on Monday in Katsina.

He said such collaboration with critical stakeholders was imperative towards promoting peace building at this period of time.

Indabawa lauded the UN Women for its interventions and reiterated the Corps commitment to peace building in the society.

In his remarks, Wonneh said the UN Women team was on an advocacy visit as part of engagement with peace architectures for a joint UN project implementation.

According to him, the UN Women is working with UNDP, UN Women Bridge and Partners West Africa Nigeria to facilitate smooth implementation of the project. 

The project, he said, focused at strengthening local and state level peace architectures for peace building and conflict prevention in Katsina State, North-West region and the country large. (NAN)
