THE Chairman, Edo Sports Commission, Godwin Dudu-Orumen, has advised the state’s athletes not to allow themselves to be poached by other states ahead of 20th National Sports Festival (NSF), tagged “Benin 2020’’.

Dudu-Orumen, who gave the advice while speaking to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday in Benin, said that athletes who were poached would have themselves to blame.

“Any athlete who allows himself to be poach will be sorry at the end of the day because the government is making sure that those who represent the state and come out with medals will be adequately rewarded.

“The Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu is the Chairman of the Local Organising Committee (LOC), and is ensuring that all committees bring their best to the table.

“Team Edo which I am privileged to be Chairman is fine tuning arrangements with the deputy governor to ensure enough camping period and good welfare for athletes.

“Team Edo will come out in style such that anybody who is not part of it will regret his or her actions for not being part.

“Edo Government assures all athletes good life after the 2020 National Sports Festival,’’ he said.

NAN reports that the National Sports Festival will hold in Benin in March. (NAN)
