Nübel rules out returning to Bayern Munich while Neuer still playing

GOALKEEPER Alexander Nübel, on loan at Monaco from Bayern Munich, has refused to return to the Bundesliga champions while Manuel Neuer is still active.
Nübel, 25, was signed on a free transfer from Schalke 04 in 2020, but any hopes of rivalling Neuer as Bayern Munich number one were over soon after.
He then went to Monaco on loan.
“It is out of the question for me to come back while Manu is still there. I certainly won’t do that, I can rule out sitting on the bench again at Bayern Munich,” he said on Thursday.
Nubel’s Bayern Munich deal runs until 2025, with 36-year-old Neuer having a contract until 2024.(dpa/NAN)
