General News
THE Nigeria Union of Journalist (NUJ), Adamawa Council, has urged the state government to develop skills acquisition centres in order to promote youths development in the state.
This is contained in a communique issued at the end of the union’s monthly congress signed by the Secretary, Mr Fidelis Jockthan, on Sunday in Yola.
The congress held on Saturday, also lauded Gov. Ahmadu Fintiri for the establishment of the Ministry of Entrepreneurship Development, describing it as “a step in the right direction.”
“This ministry can be effectively harnessed to the advantage of the youth,” it said.
The union called on the state government to invest in sports development to provide windows of engagement for the youths.
“Although the government is taking steps to tackle insecurity, more effort is needed in this regard.
“The NUJ commended the state government for the effective implementation of its urban renewal projects.”
It further urged the Fintiri-led government to evolve proactive measures towards reducing the hardship being faced by the people.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the congress was presided over by the Council’s Chairman, Mr Ishaka Dedan. (NAN)
