OSUN State’s FC, Osun Babes, says their target for 2018/2019 football season is to feature in the Super Four of the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) and play the final match of Aiteo Cup.

The Team Manager, Kehinde Johnson, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday in Abuja that the club would work hard to surpass its 2018 performance.

He said the club would participate in a four-day pre-season tournament in Ondo to strengthen the team ahead of the league.

The tournament will start from March 26 to March 31 at the Ondo State Sports Complex. The competition is organised by the Queens Football Consult from South Africa.

“We have started preparation since January, we have played a lot of friendly matches to prepare the team for the league.

“We could not play in the Super Four last season because of low performance. This year we will give our best to feature in the Super Four so as to make the state government proud of us.

“All the players in the team are determined to have a good performance in this year’s league.

“The pre-season tournament in Ondo State will help us to evaluate the level of readiness of the team,’’ he said.

Johnson said the current situation of the state government might affect their participation in the competition in Ondo.

“We are not hundred percent sure of our participation in the pre-season tournament because of the present Brouhaha in the state. We need full support of the government.

Johnson said the team played quarter-finals in the Federation Cup, adding that the club will work hard to play the final match.

“We will work hard to achieve all our targets with the help of God,’’ he said.
