OLUSEGUN Obasanjo, Former President of Nigeria on Wednesday inaugurated Jimeta great Interchange flyover in Yola, the Adamawa capital.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the inauguration is part of activities marking the one year anniversary of Gov. Ahmadu Fintiri’s second term in office.
Obasanjo described the project as Adamawa unity centre, saying it was first of its kind in the region.
The former president, who commended Fintiri for a job well done, urged him to continue to do more for the people of the state, especially in the area of security.
According to him, ensuring security will enable rural development and allow people to produce food, create job opportunities and wealth for a good life.
He advised Fintiri to keep doing more as the sky was going to be his limit in Nigeria politics.
In his address, Gov. Fintiri said that the flyover was one of the fastest delivered projects in the country and the world which was constructed to ease traffic grid in the state capital.
He said that the project was executed for the interest of people in the state and also to attract investors to the state for economic development.
He thanked Obasanjo for his contributions for the development of the state and for coming to inaugurate the project personally.
“The project means a lot to our people that is why I named it as Adamawa Unity Bridge for the benefit of humanity”, Fintiri said.
Earlier in his remarks, Alhaji Adamu Atiku, Commissioner for Works and Energy Development said that bridge was the first ever in the history of the Northeast.
According to him, before the emergence of the flyover, road users faced challenges plying the road, especially with the influx of people in to the state capital due to lingering insurgency (NAN)
