PETER Obi, presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the last general elections has reiterated his belief in the rule of law in a tweet after the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal, PEPT, which resumed sitting on Tuesday, March 30, 2023 in Abuja.
He said: “I have maintained that diligently following the rule of law in our quest to resolve the electoral impasse remains sacrosanct. The judiciary is part of our democratic process and a critical governance tool, which must be held in high esteem.
“As we journey through the judicial process, I urge all Nigerians to remain committed to the vision of a New Nigeria. Nigeria remains our common patrimony and in unity, we must sacrifice to make it better.”
Obi’s tweet as usual has received mixed reactions from the OBEdients and non Obedients alike.
Reacting, @ImIfeanyionuoha “Absolutely! a strong and vigorous democracy necessitates the rule of law and judicial respect. The judiciary has an important role in ensuring fairness, justice, and accountability. By underlining the importance of following due process, we strengthen our democratic institutions and establish a society based on the ideals of equality and justice. Let us continue to champion the rule of law as the bedrock of our democratic journey.
@HisKnowledgeable wrote Dear H.E. @PeterObi millions of Obi-Dients at home and in the Diaspora shall continue to stand with you and Datti Baba-Ahmed in this journey to enhancing Nigeria’s Democracy. After the 1796 presidential election in the United States, had Thomas Jefferson moved on and left John Adams and his policies to God, America may have become a one party state, even to date. Those asking you both and us to move on against challenging the conduct of Nigeria’s last Presidential election are Anti-Democratic Forces who don’t want Nigeria’s Democracy to blossom.
