The Anambra State government has declared the state-owned Mass Transit Buses, popularly known as `Willie Is Working Buses’ free for all commuters in the state.

The declaration which started since December 25, 2018, would last until March, 2019.

Announcing the gesture, Ifeoma Mmadukaezi, the managing director and chief executive officer, Anambra State Mass Transit, TRACAS, said it was in line with Governor Willie Obiano’s magnanimity to ensure better living condition for the people of the state.

Mmadukaezi noted that the busses would ply round the state to ease pains and sufferings of people, especially, those who travelled for yuletide celebrations.

According to her, the buses will cover Awka-Onitsha, Zik’s Avenue-Main Market, Onitsha-Ihiala, Onitsha-Atani -Ogbaru, Awka-Nnewi and other towns. All these are free of charge.

“We have also set up monitoring teams, two persons per bus, to ensure adherence to the rule,’’ Mmadukaezi added.

She stressed that incentive had been mapped out for drivers and conductors of the buses, to avert a breach of the directive.
