Obiano flags-off 32nd Annual Conference of FISON

GOVERNOR Willie Obiano of Anambra State has flagged-off 32nd Annual Conference of Fisheries Society of Nigeria, FISON, at Nnamdi Azikiwe University Auditorium, Awka.

Declaring the workshop open, Gov. Obiano, who was represented by the commissioner for Agriculture Mechanisation, Processing and Export Mr Afam Mbanefo said that agriculture was number one pillar in his administration, describing it as a `pregnant women that can never be covered up’.

He added that Anambra people should stand up for agriculture in order to meet up with the population growth in the country.

Obiano announced that there were up to 1,392 fish farmers in the state and promised to support them with the best feeds at affordable prices.

He said that this was to make the state to become the biggest fish producers in Nigeria.

The governor commended the guests, especially traditional ruler, Igwe Gibson Nwosu and other participants for gracing the occasion.

O.A Fagbenro, the chairman of the occasion, commended Obiano for his effort and support to FISON as the Grand Ambassador FISON.
