Obiano hails predecessor, Dame Etiaba at 80

CHIEF Willie Obiano, the immediate past governor of Anambra has congratulated Dame Virginia Etiaba, CON, also a former governor of the state on the occasion of her 80th birthday.
Etiaba, the first female governor in Nigeria clocked 80 on Nov. 11.
Obiano sent his felicitations in a statement signed by Mr Tony Nezianya, his Chief Publicist.
She was governor in acting capacity from Nov. 2, 2006 to Feb. 9, 2007, following the impeachment of the then governor, Mr Peter Obi by the State House of Assembly.
Obiano thanked God for sustaining Etiaba in good health, adding that she remained a mother who excelled in public and family life.
He described the octogenarian as an astute politician and a woman of great wisdom and courage, who exhibited maturity by returning power to her principal after his restoration by the Court of Appeal.
“She is a woman of high integrity with the fear of God.
“By willingly handing over power to her principal, Dame Etiaba has carved a niche in the annals of history as a loyal officer who respected the rule of law.
“She demonstrated faith in the law as a woman who has strong roots in the law, demonstrating that two of her children have attained the highest positions of law practice in Nigeria as Senior Advocates of Nigeria.(NAN)
