Obiano receives Federal House Committee on Education

GOVERNOR Willie Obiano of Anambra has reiterated the state’s commitment in providing quality education and basic amenities to students in the state.

The governor said this on Saturday while receiving the 21-member committee of the House of Representatives on Basic Education and Services at Government House, Awka.

According to the governor, the quality of education under his watch has improved with significant evidence in the students’ performances within and outside the country.

Nkem Okeke, deputy governor, received the delegation on behalf of the governor.

Earlier,  Zakari Mohammed, leader of the delegation explained that they were in the state for oversight functions on ASUBEB projects across the state as well as renovation of schools from 2013 to 2015.

He said the team was impressed with the projects executed so far and commended the state government for complementing the Federal Government with their share of 50 per cent counterpart funding.

Prof. Kate Omenugha, commissioner for Education, and  Emeka Olisa, ASUBEB chairman,  also assured the team of the state’s commitment. They expressed their satisfaction with the work of the team during the visit.
