Obiano Urges SURE-P Interns to be Good Ambassadors

Ebelechukwu Obiano, wife of the governor of Anambra States, advises SURE-P interns attached to Caring Family Enhancement Initiative, her pet project for meeting the needs of the needy to be good ambassadors
EBELECHUKWU Obiano, wife of the governor of Anambra State, has charged two hundred new SURE-P Graduate Internship Programme participants allotted to her NGO, the Caring Family Enhancement Initiative, CAFÉ, to be good ambassadors at their places of work. Obiano made the pronouncement while flagging off deployment of the 200 youths shortlisted by CAFÉ out of the 1000 slots reserved for the state their various places of work, Wednesday, at the Women Development Centre, Awka.
The engagement of the 200 youths which is for a period of one-year, is in furtherance of the NGO’s empowerment programme and in line with the SURE-P Graduate Internship Scheme for Anambra State, will involve the payment of a monthly stipend of N30, 000.00 each to the beneficiaries.
Advising the beneficiaries to acquit themselves creditably in their new assignment, the wife of the governor expressed delight that finally the objective of CAFÉ’s collaboration with SURE-P in the GIS programme has been achieved. According to her, “most of you have probably stay at after graduation in search of elusive employment opportunity. This programme is an opportunity to prove yourself to your employers that you are good and can be relied on to deliver on assignments. Don’t complain when you are given tasks because that is the only way to show your usefulness and the chance that you will be recognized for hardwork and hopefully retained after one year.”
Obiano told the beneficiaries not to misuse the opportunity they have been offered to improve themselves and ultimately contribute to the growth and development of the society. Furthermore, the wife of the governor restated that that CAFÉ is committed to assisting the in the uplifting of the conditions of the youths and women with various empowerment initiatives and by extension supporting the programmes of the government. She explained that the passion and dedication of her husband in developing Anambra State is real and already manifesting through the development projects around the state, and called on Anambra people to identify with the government by doing what is right at all times. She restated commitment to CAFÉ’s collaboration with SURE-P to improve the fortunes of graduates under the SURE-P GIS programme, and enable them gain some work experience and increase their chances of getting permanent employment. She also assured that CAFÉ’s collaboration with SURE-P Scheme is welcome development that will be nurtured by the state to improve the fortunes of graduates and boost employment opportunities.
Earlier, Rita Maduagwu, member representing Nnewi South in Anambra State House of Assembly, told the beneficiaries that they were indeed lucky to have been chosen amongst many applicants for the Scheme. She rallied them to applaud the efforts of the wife of the governor in getting SURE-P to assist through CAFÉ and for her commitment to the welfare of youths and women. She also commended Obiano for galvanising Anambra women to support her husband and APGA candidates during the recently concluded elections.
In his remarks, Onyeka Ibezim, the special adviser to the governor on Youth Empowerment, told the beneficiaries and guests that the commitment of governor Obiano and his wife to the empowerment and development of youths in Anambra is unequivocal and should be appreciated. He noted that the critical intervention of the wife of the governor made the formal take-off of the SURE-P GIS programme in the state possible. Ibezim also called on the beneficiaries to justify the confidence reposed in them by the wife of the governor by performing well at work.
Also, Jeff Okeke, SURE-P consultant in Anambra State, told the 200 beneficiaries that they have been screened and adjudged fit for deployment to areas of posting where they will be engaged for a period of one year. He urged them to live up to the objectives of SURE-P and make the wife of the governor who created the opportunity for them through the activities of her NGO, CAFÉ.
Ekene Enefe, facilitator of the SURE-P GIS programme in Anambra, assured the beneficiaries that their deployment letters are ready and that once they move to the places of work they are assured of receiving their monthly stipend of N30, 000.00 each. He also advised them to work hard and justify their selection to the employers.
In a vote of thanks on behalf of the beneficiaries, Okolie Chibuike thanked the wife of the governor for opportunity given to them through the programme. He praised the effort of the governor in recognising the youths in his development programmes in Anambra State describing him as “the most youth friendly governor.”
