EBELECHUKWU Obiano, wife of Anambra State governor, has urged Catholic mothers to live up to their primary family responsibilities as ideal mothers.
Obiano said this at the weekend during the tri-ennial convention of Catholic Women Organisation, CWO, at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church Amawbia, Awka South LGA.
The Governor’s wife, who was represented by Ify Atogu, managing director, Beautification of Park and Roundabout Agency, urged women to reflect faith in daily activities by living up to their primary responsibilities of proper parenting in their families.
“Shun negative behaviours that debase womanhood and embrace virtue for the good of your home, Church and the nation,’’ she said.
Earlier, Eunice Anemene, CWO President Emerita, thanked Obiano for always honouring their invitations as a parishioner not minding her tight schedule.
Anemene noted her unparalleled philanthropy through her life saving CAFE initiative, saying that she had also in her humility contributed to the growth of CWO in St. Matthew, Amawbia.
As the convention marks the end of parish August meeting, the president emerita enjoined mothers to be alive to their responsibilities as good housekeepers, healthcare providers and financial managers.
“Mothers are the necks that carry and turn the heads. If the neck is not capable of performing its function, there must be problem.
“Mothers are banks where we deposit all our hurts and worries. Out of their mouths are the pronouncements of blessings, riches and successes on their husbands and children,’’ Anemene noted.
She solicited for funds to enable the organisation to equip a one- room resource centre with digital technologies and for re-roofing the leaking roof of CWO Hall.
The event also featured the launch of the 2018 tri-ennial calendar, unveiling of Virgin Mary’s statue and cutting of cake as well as cultural parade.
