THE Obidients has alerted Nigerians of plot by the All Progressive Congress, APC, and the security agencies in Nigeria to frame the movement as a terrorists organisations in order to ban it in the country.
This allegation emerged following the arrest of a member of the APC who was unruly aboard the Ibom Airline on Saturday, April 1, shouting that Bola Ahmed Tinubu cannot be sworn-in as president on May 29.
Sequel to this, the Obidients in a statement made available to Realnews on April 2, clarified that it was an APC attempt to “delegitimise Peter Obi & the Obidient movement.”
The full statement reads:
“Fellow Obidients, I’ve come to speak clarity once again. Walk with me. The INEC selection process has been concluded. They have announced their president-select. However, what we all witnessed was not an election. It was brazen armed robbery, intimidation, violation, & electoral hijack. It was simply a ballot coup that produced an illegitimate president-select.
“Now, on the day he was announced, the entire country was like a graveyard. There was a blanket of gloom over the country It remained that way until Peter Obi made his first appearance after the election. The entire country was suddenly alive. There was jubilation all over. The whole town was buzzing. People huddled up over radios & TVs in banking halls, market places, hotel lounges, & everywhere else they found themselves, just to listen to the voice of hope.
“The APC saw this. The president-select saw this. They realised that there was no way in hell they could legitimise their illegitimacy. The election petitions have gone to the tribunal, & the judges have seen the mood of the nation.
They’ve all realised that it will not be business as usual. Now, this is the most important part; stay with me. They’ve now decided that since they cannot legitimise their illegitimacy, the next action should be to attempt to delegitimise Peter Obi & the Obidient movement.
“They’ve adopted various methods to do this; most of them being through propaganda and attempting to rewrite the narrative of the very campaigns & elections that we witnessed They started by attempting to paint Peter Obi & LP as regional & Christian candidate & party respectively.
“They met fierce pushback on that. Now, they’ve also studied the election petitions & realised they cannot win. Their only feint hope is an election rerun. That is the reason the anti-igbo agenda has been on overdrive, & attempting desperately to drive rancour between Igbos & Yorubas. If you’ve been wondering why they’ve felt the need to do that despite elections being over, this is one of them; the other reason being that they want to divide us so much that we will unable to stay united behind Peter Obi in his quest to reclaim our mandate. Also, they are employing state security forces to strike fear into our hearts to make us cower at the threat of possible arrest.
“This is why the whole Chude arrest thing is playing out. They want us all to be afraid & crawl back into our shells. My fear is that it’s working.
“They’ve also employed all forms of despicable propaganda to attempt to tarnish the image of Obidients. One of them dropped this morning with the airplane incident. While some of you may wave it off as busted propaganda, they have stopped caring about your reactions here.
‘Post-election, they’ve succeeded in making Twitter an echo chamber. The mainstream media has become their tool. Before the day runs out, major news outlets will carry that story & brand the guy an Obidient. Now, here’s the scary part. What they’re building up to with this incident that you’ve waved off as mere shenanigans is a narrative that leads up to them prescribing the Obidient movement & branding it a terrorist group. You may be tempted to believe I’m reaching with this; but ask yourself, if I had tweeted yesterday that they’d stage a plane hijack & put it on Obidients, would you have believed?
“Sometimes, when I tweet certain plans of the evil APC, I see some comments from genuine Obidients, saying that I give APC too much credit or that they’re not that smart. Lol.
Listen, APC has very brilliant & smart young people who have sold their souls & brilliance to the devil. You better believe that. While many of us have retreated & feel that since the petitions are now at the tribunal, that there’s no need to keep up with the pushbacks, their propaganda team & their machinery of evil online soldiers are not resting. Obidients, we own this space! But we have conceded too much of it to these vampires & bloodsucking demons! We must rediscover our voices because this fight is far from over!
“We witnessed a campaign where Peter Obi was the only candidate consistently screaming “don’t vote for me because of my ethnicity or tribe or religion; vote for competence & credibility” We witnessed a campaign where Peter Obi did 3 rallies in 3 senatorial zones in different States of the North; but while we have relaxed, they work assiduously to paint him a Christian & regional candidate! We are doing our movement a huge disservice! Also, please & please, Yoruba Obidients, this is the time when your voices are needed as loudly as they were during the campaigns. Your voices are of utmost importance right now. There is an ongoing battle for the soul of this country, & we are letting evil triumph by keeping quiet. Please, mount a fierce fight for what you believe in. Do not let them silence our voices!
