PROF. George Obiozor, former ambassador, on Sunday in Owerri, January 10, emerged as the new president-general of Ohanaeze.
Obiozor beat other contestants with 304 votes to win, including Goddy Uwazuruike, a lawyer and former president of Aka Ikenga and Chris Asoluka.
He will succeed John Nnia Nwodo, former president of Ohanaeze whose tenure expired at the weekend.
Obiozor is coming to Ohanaeze with well horned experience in leadership garnered over the years in academia and diplomatic circles as he was a three time Nigeria ambassador to three countries including United States and Israel.
He will have the onerous task of reaching out and uniting factions of Ohanaeze, who called for postponement of the election and taken the socio-cultural group to greater heights more than his predecessor achieved during his tenure.

The career diplomat scored 235 to defeat Ireke Kalu, his opponent, who got  eight  votes to come second.
