Obiozor’s death: PDP guber candidate commiserates with Ndigbo in Lagos

THE PDP Governorship Candidate for Lagos State, Dr Abdul-Azeez Adediran (Jandor) has commiserated with the leadership of Ndigbo in the state over the demise of Prof. George Obiozor, President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide.

Adediran, in a condolence statement in Lagos by Mr Gbenga Ogunleye, the Head of Media and Communications, JANDOR4Governor Campaign Organisation, said the death of the Ndigbo leader was painful.

“I commiserate with  leadership of the Lagos chapter of the Igbo apex socio-cultural organisation, the Ohanaeze Ndigbo and all Igbos who reside in the state on the demise of the president-general worldwide of the organisation, Prof. George Obiozor,” he said.

The candidate described the death of the elder stateman as a huge, irreparable loss to the nation and a big blow to the aspiration to integrate the ethnic nationalities in the country.

“I extend my heartfelt condolences to the entire members of the Ndigbo in Lagos4Lagos Movement, Lagos PDP and in extension, all the Ndigbo in Lagos state irrespective of political leanings.

“I pray that God will grant the Obiozor family, the government and people of Imo as well as all Ndigbos worldwide the fortitude to bear the loss,” he said.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that Obiozor, a former Nigerian Ambassador to the United States and former Director-General of the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs (NIIA) died at 80.
