Odogwu re-elected Anambra NUJ chairman

ANAMBRA State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has re-elected Odogwu Emeka Odogwu, the South-East Chief Editor of the Authority Newspaper for another term as the chairman of the Union.
Odogwu won defeating his opponent, Ngozi Obileri of the Anambra State Broadcasting Service (ABS) with a wide margin having polled 173 votes against her 40 votes.
The two positions contested for were the Chairman’s position and that of the Treasurer.
For the Treasurer, Chibuzor Obidike of ABS won beating his opponent, Ogemdi Ozoemena of Living Christ Chapel and Odenigbo FM with 168 votes as against Ozoemena’s 45 votes.
Other contestants for the various positions were returned unopposed; they are the Vice Chairman, the Secretary, Assistant Secretary and the Financial Secretary.
While commenting on the next line of action after his victory Odogwu said, “it’s going to be work work work and the welfare of the members.
“We are going to see to the environmental upgrade of the Secretariat. We are urging spirited individuals to come and assist us to upgrade the compound.’’
On the support from the members, Odogwu said that he is overwhelmed; he thanked them for believing in him. He also commended the government for all the support and enabling atmosphere the Union has been enjoying in the conduct of its affairs in the state.
“I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to each and every one of you for your prayers and unwavering support. Your kindness and encouragement mean the world to me.
“Together, we emerged victorious! I’m thrilled to share this triumph with all of you. Thank you again for being an integral part of my journey.”
He promised to carry out all he outlined in his manifesto of re-election, trusting God for the wisdom to act.
The Chairman, 2025 Anambra NUJ Electioneering and Credential Committee, Dr. Stanley Onunkwor praised the process of the election stating that the outcome was the will of God.
He commended his chapel members – the State Information Chapel of which he is the Chairman for coming out despite their tight official schedules to see to the success of the elections.
Onunkwor however urged all persons and stakeholders in the Union to embrace peace and join in moving of Anambra Chapel to an enviable position.
