Ogbo Ogwu chemical explosion: CLO sympathies with victims, calls for probe

THE Civil Liberties Organization has decried and lamented over the horrendous and condemnable chemical explosion that took place at Ogbo Ogwu section of Bridge Head Market that led to death of yet to identify number of persons and scores of injured and hospitalized citizens. 

The press statement jointly signed by Vincent Ezekwueme, Chidi Mbah and Vincent Udeh tagged “when one suffers directly, all of us suffers indirectly”, “sympathies and identify with the bereaved, victims and all those who lost their goods, properties, as well as market leadership and PG Bridge Head Markets, Chinedu Ezekwike, Akwaeke.”

“We passionately appeal to the governor, Charles Soludo, CP Echeng Echeng to order for discreet and in depth investigation to unravel the circumstances surrounding the despicable, pitiable and painful incidence in order to forestall future occurrence. 

“We appeal to Federal Emergency Management Agency, State Emergency Management Agency, political class and public spirited individuals and stakeholders to contribute toward ameliorating pathetic predicament of the victims. 

“Worthy of commendation is the quick intervention of Anambra state government through the Deputy Governor, Onyeka Ibezim. Fire Fighting Services led by Martin Agbili and security personnel for beefing up security and restoring normalcy

“May God accept the souls of those who lost their lives and for God to give grace and fortitude to the bereaved to bear and endure the irreparable loss. 

“We appeal to government and markets leadership to device more proactive safety and security measures in our markets,” the statement said.
