The Ogun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress has hailed the decision of the National Working Committee of the party to suspend the state governor, Ibikunle Amosun.
The state Publicity Secretary of the party caretaker committee, Tunde Oladunjoye, noted this in a statement made available to newsmen in Abeokuta on Friday.
Amosun was reportedly suspended alongside others, including Gvernor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha for anti-party activities.
The state chapter of the party said it rather wanted Amosun expelled from the party to serve as a deterrence to other people that might want to emulate him.
According to the statement ,”The APC in Ogun State receives wholeheartedly the decision of NWC to suspend Governor Ibikunle Amosun.
“We see the NWC decision as long overdue, as Governor Amosun’s action represents huge and unbelievable demonstration of ingratitude to a party that has helped his political fortune.
“We are also calling on the NEC of the party to go ahead and expel him from the party to teach him a lesson and serve as a deterrence to other people who might want to toe the path.”
Meanwhile, attempts to get the reaction of the governor through his media aides proved abortive, as both the Senior Special Adviser to the Governor on Media, and the Special Assistant to the Governor on Media, Rotimi Durojaiye and Eshiomohmo Imoudu respectively, did not answer their calls.
Our correspondent also sent messages to them but they have not responded as of the time of filing this report.
