He said his administration would make sports more attractive, especially to the youths, which accordingly would enable them develop their talents and make a livelihood from it.
Represented by his deputy, Hon. Samson Salako, the council boss charged youths to channel their energy on positive endeavours that would guarantee them a rewarding future while shunning acts capable of jeopardising their future.
“I am very happy that you represented our local government very well. You gave a good account of yourselves and at the end, came back with some medals. I am very proud of you all.
“Let me use this opportunity to assure you that we will not relent in developing sports in Yewa South Local Government and we will also continue to encourage and reward talents,’’ he said.
The council’s Head of Local Government Administration, Ms Olasubomi Ayorinde, also congratulated the team members and urged them to remain focused.
She stated that with dedication, they could become world renowned and earn good living from sports.
Ayorinde paid tributes to the team’s coach for his efforts at fishing out young athletes and footballers across primary schools in the area, imploring him and his crew to nurture them to stardom.
