The Ogun State Government says it is losing over N5bn to illegal tax collection yearly.
The State Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Mr Bimbo Ashiru, said this on Sunday during the quarterly meeting of the ministry with members of the state chapter of the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria.
He, however, noted that proactive measures are being taken by the government to redeem the situation by harmonising the various tax collections in the state.
Ashiru also stated that the government is set to pass a bill that will criminalise the act and ensure that anyone found guilty is prosecuted.
