Ohanaeze Seeks Release of Kanu

OHANAEZE Ndigbo on Sunday, November 29 joined other pro-Biafra groups in calling on the federal government for the immediate release of Nnamdi Kanu, director of Radio Biafra. The group in its meeting in Enugu stated that the federal government must release the Biafra activist unconditionally.
Ohanaeze‘s directive was contained in a communiqué jointly signed by Gary Enwo-Igariwey, national president and Joe Nworgu, secretary general of the group. They said agitations and public protests over Biafra had been exacerbated by the detention of Kanu. The group expressed displeasure over the continued incarceration of Kanu, saying that it was gravely concerned over current wide-spread public Biafra agitations in states of the South-East and some other states of Nigeria for the actualisation of Biafra.
Fearing that the development could threaten the security and peaceful co-existence of some Igbo people in other parts of the country, consequently summoned an emergency meeting of Imeobi Ohanaeze Ndigbo to discuss the situation. They lamented that the agitations were the direct result of the excruciating pain of severe injustice, marginalisation and exclusion of Ndigbo from decision making structures in the country and strongly avers that the exclusion of Ndigbo in decision making structure presents danger to the unity and well-being of the country, not only now, but also in future, and should be redressed urgently.
