THE youth wing of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, has felicitated with Prof. Chinedu Nebo on his inauguration as the new president of Nzuko Umunna, the organization’s think tank, on Friday.

The Financial Secretary, Ohanaeze Youth Worldwide, Mr Chinedu Arthur-Ugwa, gave the congratulatory message while addressing newsmen in Owerri on Saturday.

Arthur-Ugwa described Nebo, a former Vice Chancellor of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, as a committed son of Igbo soil and an accomplished technocrat whose pedigree is without a doubt.

He expressed conviction that the former Minister of Power and Archdeacon of the Anglican Church would deploy his wealth of experience in carrying out the daunting task of uniting all Igbo people while working cooperatively with the leadership of Ohanaeze Ndigbo.

“Prof. Chinedu Nebo’s appointment couldn’t have come at a better time than now when the second handshake across the Niger has become expedient.

“As a square peg in a square hole, we, the youth of Ohanaeze, strongly believe in his ability to steer the ship of Nzuko Umunna at this critical moment in Nigeria’s history,“ he said.

Arthur-Ugwa also commended a prominent lawyer and human rights activist, Chief Mike Ozhekome, for his steadfastness and commitment to the ideals of justice in connection with calls for the release of the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu.

He urged the Federal Government to see reasons with Ozhekome’s call and release Kanu to enable him consult with his personal doctor so as to avoid deterioration of his health condition.

“Ohanaeze youth are proud of Ozhekome and what he represents in the country and we join our voice with his to urge the federal government to hearken to calls for Kanu’s release,“ he said.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Nebo was inaugurated as President of Nzuko Umunna at the “Handshake across the Niger 2”, a project organised by the think tank in Enugu, on Friday. (NAN)
