ANAMBRA Deputy Governor, Dr Nkem Okeke, has called for adequate use of data collation, analysis and documentation to produce a sound blueprint that would hasten the development of the country.
Okeke said this when a delegation of Data Science Premium Solution, led by Mrs Obioma Onukwube, visited her on Wednesday in Awka.
According to Okeke, if we develop interest in data science using artificial and machine learning, the society will be a sound place to live in because it will boost the country’s development blueprint and create jobs.
He advised Nigerians to develop interest in the latest data science related research and application in a number of domains and connect with others in their fields.
Earlier, Onukwube said the team came to show appreciation to the deputy governor who declared the Data Science Premium Solution’s conference opened on April 13 in Awka.
Onukwube said the conference which had been held in about 150 locations worldwide was to encourage women to go into data science application for improved data usage in the country.
She said the number of women in the field of data science had been sliding downward and urged the state government to encourage women by giving then incentives to go into the field.
“I appeal to the state government to consider introducing data science application to girls secondary schools in the state so as to inculcate the values early in their subconscious mind,’’ she said.
She said the aim of the conference was to enable students hear about the latest data science-related research in a number of domains, learn how leading-edge companies were using data science for success, and connect with potential members in the field.
She urged students that attended the conference to imbibe the teachings of the conference irrespective of their course of study. (NAN)
