THE Academic Staff Union of Federal Polytechnic, ASUP, Oko Chapter has continued their strike in spite of appeals to call it off.

The institution’s governing council had appealed to the union to call off the strike.

The association had been agitating over unpaid allowances owed them by the management as well as non-implementation of agreements between the union and management.

The Polytechnic Management and the council respectively led by Godwin Onu, the rector, and Lasberry Amadi had held meetings with the union on campus urging them to shelve the strike.

Onu appealed to the union to call off the strike, especially now that the community would be expecting many dignitaries during burial of the former Vice-President of Nigeria, late Dr Alex Ekwueme.

Meanwhile, the Senior Staff Association of Nigeria Polytechnics, SSANIP, and Non Academic Staff Union, NASU, had in their separate meetings with the management and the institution’s council decided not to join the strike.
