THE Oko Polytechnic, in collaboration with Tertiary Education Trust Fund, TETfund, has supplied the Mass Communication Department of the Institution with 50 ultramodern communication equipment.

The equipment, including consoles, plasma television sets, microphones, studio cameras, still cameras, Antennas and stabilisers were received by the Head of the Department (HOD), Fidelis Oduah.

Oduah, who described the gesture as first of its kind since the inception of the department, described the Rector of the Polytechnic, Francisca Nwafulugo, as a leader, who would not hesitate to bring development to the institution.

“Immediately Francisca Nwafulugo assumed office as the Rector, Oko Polytechnic, she saw the need to upgrade the department to international standards by providing it with this equipment.

“This department has been the best Mass Communication Department in West Africa with the best studio; with the new ultramodern equipment we can now compete globally with any institution in Mass Communication.

“The institution has witnessed many developmental projects since Nwafulugo assumed office.

“She inaugurated the Dean’s Complex, General Studies building, re-accredited not less than 60 departments and others.’’

Oduah expressed gratitude to TETfund for working tirelessly with the school management to acquire the equipment for the department.

“I am glad that it is during my tenure that we received this state of the art equipment.

“We also have professionals to man them. This will ensure that the department produces the best graduates in the field of Mass Communication that will compete favourably with the International media practitioners,’’ he said.
