THE Ondo State House of Assembly on Tuesday screened and confirmed Mrs Omowumi Isaac as a commissioner-designate.

Gov. Lucky Aiyedatiwa had on Feb. 2 submitted the names of six commissioner nominees to the state assembly for screening and confirmation.

The nominees were screened and confirmed on Feb. 6 but Isaac, the sixth commissioner-nominee, was not available for the exercise and no reason was given for her absence.

Presenting the report on the personality of the nominee, the Deputy Speaker, Abayomi Akinruntan, said that the  nominee provided excellent answers to questions directed to her.

Akinruntan, who is the Vice Chairman of the House Selection Committee, added that the nominee had the requirements needed to be appointed a commissioner in the state.

The Majority Leader, Oluwole Ogunmolasuyi, Owo 1/APC, therefore, moved a motion for the nominee to be presented for screening and confirmation and the motion was seconded by Mr Raymond Laolu, Akoko South-West 1/APC.

Ogunmolasuyi appreciated the Selection Committee for finding the nominee worthy to fit into an office of a commissioner.

Chief Olamide Oladiji, the Speaker of the House, urged Isaac to live up to the expectations of the people of the state, and urged her to join hands with the state governor for the development of the state.

Oladiji promised that the legislative arm would continue to collaborate with the state governor for rapid development and growth of the state.

Responding, Isaac appreciated the state governor and the assembly for the consideration.

She promised not to let the people down.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Isaac hails from Owo in Owo Local Government Area of the state. (NAN)
