Ondo Assembly confirms Owate as DG, Pension Commission

THE Ondo State House of Assembly has confirmed the appointment of Mr  Babatunde Owate as the Director General (DG) of the Ondo State Pension Commission.

The appointment was confirmed at a plenary presided over by the Speaker of the House, Mr Bamidele Oleyelogun.

The confirmation followed nomination of Owate by Gov. Oluwarotimi Akeredolu and report from the screening of the House Committee on Selection.

Mr Samuel Aderoboye, the Deputy Speaker of the House of Assembly, said the nominee responded to all questions raised by the Committee in very eloquent and explicit order.

Aderoboye added that Owate had a clear understanding of pensions, saying that he possessed the required academic qualifications and physically, mentally and emotionally stable and fit to accomplish the challenges on the position as the DG.

Also speaking, Mr Akintomide Akinrogunde, representing Okitipupa Constituency, described Owate as an expert who would put pension administration on a good path to achieve desired result.

The Majority leader of the House, Mr Oluwole Ogunmolasuyi, moved the motion for the report to be considered and the nominee be confirmed and was seconded by the Minority Leader of the House, Mr  Rasheed Elegbeleye.

Oloyelogun, therefore, congratulated Owate and urged him to put in his best to make a difference in the commission.

In his response, Owate appreciated the state governor for nominating him as a DG and also appreciated the lawmakers for the efforts they had put in place during the screening and confirmation.

Owate, who is a Chartered Accountant, promised to do everything at his disposal to improve the system, pledging not to disappoint the people of the state and the assembly. (NAN)
