THE Ilaje Youth Congress, the umbrella body for all Ilaje youths, has called on the Federal Government to deploy more security personnel to Ondo State ahead of the Saturday’s governorship election in the state.

They said the number of security personnel already deployed to the state for the election was not enough to stem what they described as “looming breach of security” on the day of the election by suspected political thugs belonging to certain political parties.

The Ilaje youths made the call on Thursday in a statement signed by the National President, Ikuesan Oluwawumisan; and Secretary, Aganmayo Ayodeji, a copy of which was made available to our correspondent.

The organisation particularly appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari to provide adequate security to maintain peace during and after the election.

The statement read in part, “We want to use this medium to plead with Governor Olusegun Mimiko to join hands with the Federal Government as the Chief Security Officer of the State, in ensuring a maximum security of life and property in Ondo State before, during and after November 26, 2016 governorship election.

“INEC should know that they have integrity to protect as far as Ondo State election is concern, as such, they should toe the line of neutrality in the conduct of the election in order for the people to have hope and trust believing that their vote count.”

The youths also appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari to appoint a commissioner to represent Ondo State in the board of the Niger Delta Development Commission, noting that delay was negatively impacting on the people of the catchment areas. – Punch
