THE Labour Party (LP) Presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, Monday led the campaign for the party’s candidate in the November 16 governorship election in Ondo State, Chief Sola Ebiseeni.

Obi, alongside Ebiseeni and his running mate, Mr. Dayo Awude, took part in a road show across Akure, the state capital, rallying support for the LP candidate. He urged the people of the state to vote for LP to usher in progress.

According to Obi, “It is time to rebuild Ondo State and bring in leaders who will provide employment, education, and infrastructure to the people—leaders who don’t just show up every four years to canvas for votes.”

He continued, “We know democracy is struggling in Nigeria, and some have turned it into a tool for transitional politics. But we remain firm in our belief that now is the time to start building a new Nigeria—a Nigeria where a child of nobody becomes somebody, a Nigeria where there is equal opportunity, a Nigeria where we lift people out of poverty, a Nigeria where our children are in school, and where our hospitals function.”

“We don’t want handouts from the money that has been stolen from us, only for those responsible to keep stealing,” Obi stated. “We want to end the cycle of stealing and start the process of rebuilding. We want to shift this country from consumption to production, creating jobs in the process. That’s why we are campaigning.”

Obi also urged the Ondo electorate to reject vote-buying and selling, pointing out that the money used for such acts was likely stolen from the people.

In his remarks, the LP governorship candidate, Ebiseeni, expressed confidence that the Labour Party, being the most popular political party in Ondo State, would emerge victorious in the November 16 election.

Ebiseeni remarked, “The Labour Party is the most popular party in Ondo State. This is a party that the people of Ondo voted for twice and held power in the state between 2009 and 2017. Our programmes, policies, and projects are visible everywhere in the state.”

He further explained, “Everywhere you go in Ondo State, you’ll see projects bearing the colour of the Labour Party—orange. I am wearing this orange deliberately, as it represents the party’s colours, which you will find on every project we’ve implemented.”

He concluded, “Our presidential candidate is here to show support and to let Nigerians know that the Labour Party is the party to vote for.”
