THE House of Representatives, says only Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) that made judicious use of their allocations in 2023 will receive funds from the 2024 budget.

This indication was given by the Deputy Spokesperson of the House, Rep. Philip Agbase, who said the development is in line with the legislative agenda of the 10th House of Representatives.

He said this in Abuja on Thursday while reacting to the budget presentation by President Bola Tinubu on Nov. 29 before the joint session of the National Assembly.

According to him, the 2024 Appropriation Bill will be looked into, and one thing that I can assure Nigerians is that Abbas will thoroughly monitor the budget.

Agbese said Abbas, demonstrated exceptional passion for Nigeria with his statement during the 2024 budget presentation.

Abbas, while reading his speech, said the current administration cannot afford to fail Nigerians by changing the rules and charting a new course for the citizenry.

Agbase said the speaker had proven to be distinct from others in his relationship with the executive and handling of the 2024 Appropriation Bill

He said the Speaker’s handling of issues relating to the citizens’ welfare has endeared him more to his colleagues and Nigerians at large.

He said unlike in the past, when the two chambers engaged in avoidable scuffles and banter on budget issues, the process has been smooth so far. (NAN)
