Onyeka Onwenu goes home in private burial ceremony

ONYEKA Onwenu has been laid to rest in a private burial in line with her wish for a modest and quiet farewell.

The late singer who passed away on July 30 was laid to rest in Lagos on Friday, August 30, exactly one month after her passing.

A service of songs was held in her honor at the Fountain of Life Church, Ilupeju, and was attended by prominent figures.

The burial ceremony took place immediately after at the Ebony Vaults, James George Street, Off Alagbon Close, Ikoyi, Lagos.

Members of the Onwenu family, friends, and clergymen stood at the gravesite to pay their last respects as the singer’s body was lowered into the grave.

Her two sons, Abraham and Tijani, expressed gratitude for the outpouring of love and support from the public and dignitaries.

Ex-presidential candidate Peter Obi was among the notable dignitaries who attended the final burial ceremony and interment of singer, actress, author, and activist Onyeka Onwenu.
