THE Consumers Values Broadcasting Ltd. says it will provide the required guiding light as well as deliver value to make brands, products and services more accountable to customers.

Mr Adedayo Ojo, Chairman, Consumers Values Broadcasting Ld , told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN)  that consumers were already inundated with  too much of hype, publicity and promotions from goods and services, some of which were not approved by the regulatory authorities.

Ojo spoke to NAN on the sidelines of the Consumers Values Award in Lagos.

According to him, the situation throws up an opportunity for some guiding light to help navigate through the labyrinth.

“What sets the Consumers Value Awards apart is that consumers make the decision on who wins.

“Therefore, our role as organisers is restricted to facilitating the conversation between products, services, brands and consumers.

“More importantly, we are committed to doing these transparently, ethically and with integrity.

“Our goal at Consumers Value Broadcasting is to ensure that consumers’ rights and priviledges are recognised, prioritised and delivered,” he said.

Ojo said that the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Act, 2019 (“FCCP Act”) had copious provisions on the rights of the consumer.

He said it included the right to safe and quality goods and services, the right to reject goods, the right to disclosure and more.

“Successful brands deserve to be celebrated and winners emerged in about 25 categories.

“The award rules and guidelines mirror the (consumers) jury’s commitment to ensuring that all details surrounding the award process are transparent and accessible,’’ he said.

NAN reports that the Consumer Value Awards 2022 is the maiden edition with highlight of the event being the Special Recognition Award. (NAN)
