•••says the focus of police should be on punishing killers, not dancing to APC rhetorics

THE Osun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is worried over the lack of attention given to the gruesome murder of its members in Ifetedo, Ife South local government by thugs sponsored by All Progressives Congress (APC) by the Police, tasking the commissioner of police, CP, in charge of election duty in the state, Peter Abayomi, not to play down the killing of innocent citizens.

A statement signed by Akindele Adekunle, Caretaker Chairman, Osun PDP, on March 21, said the party was “disturbed to note that the CP has failed to take the needed action on the serious case of murder of Wole, a PDP member in Ifetedo, but rather, pursuing the sentiment of the APC in a bid to cover up for their crime.

“We must state strongly that nothing, not even the petty narratives of an alleged false release can equate the loss of life, which is the case here. The reasonable expectation of Osun people is that the Police under the CP of Election should be to go hard on the killers and ensure that they are punished for their crimes.

“The Police should immediately begin the questioning of the suspects in its custody in respect of the murder of Wole and also ensure that those on the run, including the APC candidate for Ife South, Najeem Oyewumi, are brought in to save the public from further effect of their evil attrocities.

“Our party demands that he should be declared wanted if he has not already been declared wanted by the Police. Any attempt to shield him or whoever from the heinous crime of killing Wole and injuring other PDP members will not be acceptable to us and the generality of Osun people.

“The debate on the genuineness of a wanted notice in circulation should not be used to distract attentions from the APC killings of PDP members in the state. As a party, our interest is justice for Wole and every PDP members killed by APC thugs and we expect the Police to do so without delay.”
