Osun governorship: PDP rejects Tribunal judgment
Politics
THE Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has rejected the judgment of the Osun State Governorship Election Tribunal which nullified the July 16, 2022 election won by its candidate, Ademola Adeleke.
The party rejected the judgement in a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba in Abuja on Friday.
Ologunagba said that the judgment of the Tribunal was contrary to the will of the people of Osun, which was expressed by the overwhelming votes cast for PDP and its candidate at the election.
Ologunagba said that the July 16, 2022 Governorship election in Osun was adjudged by local and international observers to be free, fair, transparent.
He added that the election was clearly won by the PDP and its candidate, Gov. Adeleke in confirmation of the wishes and aspiration of the people.
“The will of the people of Osun State as expressed by electing Gov. Adeleke must be respected. As a law-abiding party, the PDP will explore all available legal means to restore the victory of our party.”
Ologunagba urged the people of Osun to be calm and continue to support Gov. Adeleke as PDP restated its confidence in the Institution of the judiciary to dispense justice in this matter at the Appellate Court.(NAN)
