Osun: Kingmakers pick Adebayo as new Olumoro of Moro

KINGMAKERS in Moro town, Ife North West Local Council Development Area of Osun, on Wednesday picked Prince Oyeyemi Adebayo from Arowoeledejoye compound as the new Olumoro of Moro.

Adebayo was picked during the selection process by the five kingmakers of the town at Ife North West Local Council Development Area Secretariat, Edunabon.

The Olumoro-elect was announced by the Head of Local Government Administration, Mr Yunus Lawanson.

Lawanson said that the five contestants: Prince Adetoro Adeyinka, Prince Ezekiel Oyewumi, Prince Oyeyemi Adebayo, Prince Olasumboye Oyetunde and Prince Olaoye Oyedele were from Arowoelejoye Compound.

The head of local government administration explained that five kingmakers voted during the selection process.

The five kingmakers are: Chief Oluyinka Olanrewaju J, Omoloju of Moro; Chief Adeyemi Adeagbo, Molaage of Moro; Chief James Salako, Asalu of Moro; Apostle Egunyemi J. Idowu, Baale Arowosilejoye; and Jacob Oyebanji Aderibigbe, Baale Arowoeledejoye.

Lawanson, while announcing the results, said Adebayo got three votes to emerged the Olumoro-elect, Adeyinka and Oyetunde had one vote each, while Oyewumi and Joel had no vote.

Speaking, the Olumoro-elect appreciated God and promised to ensure the growth and development of the town.

The new Olumoro pledged to work with his co-contestants, while calling for support from the indigenes.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the stool of Olumoro became vacant following the demise of Oba Ezekiel Oyeniyi who joined his ancestors on Feb. 22, 2024. (NAN)
