Over 50,000 women, youths benefit from skills empowerment scheme in Zaria

MORE than 50,000 women and youths have been trained in various skills acquisition by Dr Abbas Tajudeen, member representing Zaria Federal Constituency.
Tajudeen said during the fourth graduation of 1,444 students he sponsored on the training in Zaria, on Sunday, that the training is designed to engaged them meaningfully.
According to the lawmaker, the participants were trained in 20 different skills, including computer, cosmetics, tailoring designs and bag making, across the four acquisition centres established in Zaria Local Government Area.
“The aim of the scheme was to ensure that youths and women acquired one form of skill or the other to make them self-reliant,” he said.
He assured that more than 15,000 additional youths would be trained with starter packs this year.
Tajudeen said he was committed to engage more youths on activities that could make them productive.
On his part, Malam Buhari Musa, Director, ICT/Skills Acquisition Centre, Tudun Wada, said skills acquisition is the best in engaging youths meaningfully to keep them away from banditry and all other forms of social vices.
“Skills acquisition is the permanent solution to youth unemployment and over dependency on white collar jobs,” he said.
He noted that the centre was established by the lawmaker in 2013. (NAN)
