GOV. Ggboyega Oyetola of Osun has reiterated his administration’s commitment to improved health care delivery and the general well-being of the people.

Oyetola said this while receiving a donation of Personal Protective Equipment from the management of Fidelity Bank Plc in Osogbo on Tuesday.

The governor, who noted that Osun had yet to receive financial support for the management of COVID-19, said the state had retained its status as one of the top three states in Nigeria with the best facilities to combat the pandemic.

Represented by his Special Adviser on Public Health, Dr Siji Olamiju, Oyetola maintained that the state government had been proactive by deploying resources to equip primary and secondary health facilities in the state before the outbreak of the virus.

” Osun is one of the first five states, number three to be specific, to have the best preparation to tackle COVID-19.

“We have 350 isolation beds spread across different locations in the state.

“From the inception of our administration, we have embarked on rehabilitation, renovation and revitalisation of over 300 Primary Healthcare Centers, one per ward, across the state with 256 already completed,” he said.

The governor thanked the management of the bank, promising that the equipment would be put to good use against the virus.

Earlier in his remarks, the Regional Head Southwest 2 of Fidelity Bank, Mr Wale Mesioye, had commended the governor for his proactive approach in curbing the spread of COVID-19 in the state.

Mesioye said that none of the bank’s staff had tested positive to COVID-19 across all its branches in the state due to the laudable efforts of the government. (NAN)
