The national leader of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, has said the party’s candidate for the September 22 governorship election in Osun State, Isiaka Oyetola, will follow in the footsteps of incumbent Governor Rauf Aregbesola.

This, Tinubu said, was the reason he had thrown his weight behind Oyetola.

Tinubu said Aregbesola had laid the foundation in the provision of infrastructure, which, he reiterated that  Oyetola would leverage to raise the economic profile of Osun State.

The APC leader, according to a statement on Sunday, said this during his visits to the palaces of Ataoja of Osogbo, Oba Jimoh Olanipekun, and Owa-Obokun of Ijeshaland, Oba Adekunle Aremolaran.

He was accompanied on the visit by the Minister of Health, Prof Isaac Adewole; a former APC National Vice Chairman, South-West, Chief Pius Akinyelure;  Lagos State Commissioner for Information, Kehinde Bamigbetan; and Executive National Commissioner, Stakeholders Management of the National Communications Commission, Sunday Dare.

He said, “With the impeccable credentials, competence and the sterling performance of the outgoing Governor Rauf Aregbesola, the APC candidate is the best man for the job and the one to beat in the race.

“I am backing the renowned insurance guru and corporate player in order to help replicate the economic and infrastructural development witnessed in Lagos in Osun.”

Meanwhile, hundreds of residents stormed Freedom Park, Osogbo, the venue of the Free Medical Mission inaugurated Oyetola on Sunday.

The aged, the physically-challenged and other categories of people trooped to the venue where medical experts were stationed to diagnose, treat and dispense drugs to beneficiaries.

The medical experts screened people for diabetics, eye problem, high blood pressure and other medical conditions during the free health care which Oyetola promised to take to 10 major towns in the state to allow more people to benefit from it. – Punch
