Modupe Ozolua, body enhancement specialist, brings succuor to the poverty-stricken people of Bayelsa State by giving them food items and providing medical treatment free of charge

MODUPE Ozolua, founder of Body Enhancement Foundation, is putting smile on the faces of some Nigerian in the Niger Delta. From November 23 to November 29, Ozolua and her teams brought their milk of human kindness to the fore when they conducted their free medical mission and food donation programme that included distribution of medical glasses and medication, in the dangerous creeks of Bayelsa State. The local governments visited during the seven-day free medical and food drive missions were Ogbia,  Sagbama, Southern Ijaw, and Brass, Yenagoa.

The medical team, which treated 2000 patients, performed eye examinations, gave out medication and glasses to the underprivileged.  The team in charge of the food drive went to both inland and riverine communities in the creeks to distribute bags of rice to the poor.

Ozolua and her food drive team travelled for three hours by speedboats to access the remote creeks and Atlantic ocean of Brass and Southern Ijaw local government areas that are infamous for sea pirates and kidnappings. The Nigerian Navy provided security for them with high-powered gunboats and security personnel.

Some institutions and individuals supported the programme. They include the Nigeria Customs Service which donated 600 50kg bags of rice which were distributed to 48 communities in the state (28 land and 20 riverine only accessible by water). Other sponsors are AutoPlaza Nigeria, Dana Group, Trenur Nigeria Ltd, Body Enhancement Limited and Shenu Gusau Ibahim, member House of Representatives (Zamfara Federal).

According to Ozolua, many people have the misconception that Bayelsa State is flowing with milk and honey simply because the President Goodluck Jonathan is from there. Little do they know that it’s a land over flowing with poverty, neglect, anger and cries for help.
