Painter jailed 2 years for house breaking, stealing

AN Upper Area Court in Jos on Wednesday sentenced a 26-year-old painter Samson Sunday to two years in jail, for breaking into a woman’s house and stealing building materials and money.
The Judge, David Damulak sentenced Sunday after he pleaded guilty to the two-count charge.
Damulak, however, gave the convict an option of N20, 000 fine and ordered him to pay a compensation of N30, 000 to the complainant.
He said the judgment would serve as deterrent to those who would want to indulge in such criminal acts
Earlier, the Prosecutor, Insp. Ibrahim Gokwat told the court that the case was reported on Oct.17 at Nassarawa Gwong Police station by Grace Danjuma, the complainant.
The prosecutor said that the convict broke into the complainant’s house through the front door and stole five shovels, three head pans, four trowels, some iron rods, three harmer, a decoder valued at N15, 000 and a cash of N15, 000.
He said the offence is punishable under the provisions of Section 332 and 272 of Plateau Penal Code Law.(NAN)
